Those lucky enough to have the means to collect cars generally seem to pick a theme to their automotive obsession. For Nick Alexander, an owner of a BMW and Mini dealership in Southern California, it’s woodies. His impressive collection consists of 52 Ford and Mercury woodies from the early 1930s through the mid 1950s, all of which are either restored to perfection or painstakingly preserved in original condition.

Mr. Alexander, however, has decided that it’s time to let the collection go and he’s enlisted the help of RM Auctions to find buyers for the cars. All of the woodies will be sold at no reserve on August 13 at a special event in Monterey before RM’s main auction on the 14th and 15th. A portions of the proceeds will also be donated to the Midland School in Santa Ynez Valley, CA. Hit the jump for more details on the auction, and browse through most of the woodies in the high-res gallery below.
